GEHL Skid Steer Loaders in Industrial Flooring Decontermination

When hearing the topic "re-surfacing" of industrial floorings, you immediately think of a special milling machine, shot blasting or the use of a manually operated jackhammer.

GEHL offers a special cost-effective alternative:

The Advantages of a GEHL Skid Steer Loader with a Cold Planer

compared to an automotive milling machine:

  • due to the low ground pressure (less than 350 kg/m² contact area), the extreme manoeuvrability combined with the compact measurements (machine height lower than 2 m, machine width lower than 1.5 m) the fields of application are nearly unlimited.

  • due to the compact measurements and the easy exchange of the attachments (cold planer, broom bucket, hydraulic hammer) the machine can be easily moved to upper levels in an industrial lift.

  • in an extreme case the machine can be lifted easily by a crane in non- accessible areas (such as digestion tanks in sewage plants, on upper roofs etc.)

  • therefore, in many cases Skid Steer Loaders are the better alternative to manual labour when operating in halls and parking houses as well as in old buildings.

  • by using different cutting heads for the respective fields of application makes operating efficiently at a minimum of costs. For example:
    1. The first step in milling is to roughen the surface.
    2. The second step is fine milling or smoothing the surface; this method reduces the quantity of the materials used in resurfacing the flooring (for example expensive synthetic resin products).
OR:     laying of expansion joints, drainage and canal systems!

  • Accumulated elastic materials can be removed by using special cutting drums.

  • Planing in confined spaces, such as across the roadway (for example at bridges), can be carried out easily.

compared to traditional methods:

  • Shot blasting is only possible on a relatively level surface. If the surface is too rough, this procedure can not be used and the surface has to be milled as a first step.
  • Vibrations are reduced by using a multi-teeth drum. This is absolutely necessary when reconstruction works are done and EDP or CNC supported industrial tools and machines are around. The traditional jackhammer cannot be used because of dust blowing, noise and vibrations.
  • In order to achieve the necessary adhesion value, first of all the surface has to be removed by controlled milling. Only now the shot blasting procedure can be carried out effectively.
